Pattern Recognition Experience is an interactive installation merging physics, sound and visual form. The installation revolves around the translation of sound into pattern using oscilloscopes. Participants create sound “drawings” with amplified objects, microphones, or instruments. I am able to influence the appearance of the “drawings” by managing a range of control options including a computer program designed specifically for this project. A printer freezes the final image allowing the participant to carry away a record of our collaborative sound drawing. Pattern recognition lends literal shape to the convergence of science and art and is a hands-on homage to psychedelia.
